Ted Curinga

In October of 1986 at the age of nineteen, Jesus made Himself real to me and radically changed my life.  As stated in 2 Corinthians, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come."  Therefore, I became a new person in Jesus Christ.  I still looked the same but my thoughts and actions were all new.  The Lord had delivered me from my self-absorbed thoughts and actions.  "Ted" was no longer the center of my attention because Jesus became the focus of my life.

Prior to my conversion, I drifted from one self-centered pleasure to another.  I immersed myself in alcohol, drugs, and shallow relationships.  These items are things that the world has set up as fulfilling idols in which to place one's trust.  However, none of them offered enough fulfillment's for me to remain content for any length of time.

Finally, in 1986 at the start of the new year, I came to the end of myself after numerous failures, addictions, and depression; life had become so meaningless.  I had tried everything that the world held up as great but came away empty.  If reality was a party, then I was sick of it and ready for it to end.  I wanted something more but I was powerless to go beyond where I was.  Addictions are vicious obsessions that hold on to you well beyond the point that you desire to let them go.  Consequently, I became desperate to find something that would satisfy the emptiness that consumed me.

It was at this point that I met my future wife, Sarah.  She patiently listened to me and encouraged me to visit her church.  It was there that I heard about Jesus and through the council of Sarah's father, I received Christ as my personal Lord and Saviour.  Jesus changed my inner-self by filling the void within me and freeing me from my past addictions; He also changed the way that I viewed this world.  Jesus took the life that I had been wasting on selfish pleasures and that I had all but destroyed and began to clean me up.  He gave me a purpose for life, which was to serve a loving God.

Since then, Christ has taken me through college, where I have received my Bachelor's Degree in Education and Master's Degree in History from Oswego State University and my New York State Permanent Teaching Certificate.  Furthermore, my history of Christian service had led me and my family to Bolivia for two years, where I taught in a school for missionary children.  Hence, it was in Bolivia that the Lord called me into Christian education.  From Bolivia, I moved back to New York and accepted a teaching position at Faith Fellowship Christian School, where I have taught for the past fourteen years.  In 2008, after the poignant loss of our dearly beloved principal Don Cronk, I was asked to become the principal of Faith Fellowship Christian School.

As the principal of Faith Fellowship Christian School, God continues to work in my life.  It is truly my great honor and privilege to serve here at the school to help educate and administrate the children of Christian families and to be an extension of your Christian family here at FFCS.
